Thesis for the day

So i was sitting in class today and i had the following thoughts:
Chirstianity isnt a Religion its an Ideology, much like Satanism.
Satanism, for those of you who are ignorant and may think its a tribe of devil worshipers who carry out paganistic rituals, is a belief in living a self-serving life that is free of stupidity. More information on satanism can be found on my friend Josh's Myspace under his blogs.

I dont by any means label my self a satanist. these days i would consider myself athesiest if anything. but im sorta against any form of labels because they go against my thinking entirely.

I think that denomination and organized religion is the biggest thorn in christianity's side. The classfulness that a denomination gives to its beliefs a uniformity under the church that is to be the understood belief of the congrigation portrayed to the members from the pulpit. Chrisitans are lazy. They sit in church every sunday seeing their preacher as a man educated in bible. They sit and believe what they are told, they pray for understanding of his teachings when they ignore that the reason they dont understand it is that they dont believe it. And after meditating on it they force theirselves to accept it. Religious brainwashing. You know Heaven's gate convinced alot of people to dress in satin and commit suicide but that make it anymore right than chrisitanity.

The next portion of this entry will outline some of my concerns and insights to human life, christianity and beliefs.

Section 1. Idolotry
In the bible ( 2 Kings 17:12) it states - For they served idols, whereof the LORD had said unto them, Ye shall not do this thing.

The bible clearly states serving idols is going agisnt God.
"Idolatry, in Christian theology, is "the worship of a created object" rather than the true God." -from answer.com
this definition will serve us well enough. Idolartry is the worship of something other than the true god.

i will go on to cite the views of the modern prodistant.

"Protestant views of idolatry

Many Protestants believe that in attributing holiness or power to human artifacts, they foster disbelief in God's omnipotence, and his independent and sovereign will, and suggest instead to human fallibility that God can be manipulated. To them, this is the essence of idolatry considered as a sin. They also consider the Roman Catholic cult of relics to be idolatry, as is the practice of pilgrimage to distant shrines; they hold instead that God is no less accessible here and now than he is in a distant holy place. Especially suspect in Protestant eyes is the belief that articles such as Lourdes water, holy water, blessed handkerchiefs, and so forth possess supernatural powers, such as for healing. To the Protestant mind, this seems akin to the forbidden practice of magic. For these believers, idolatry can be viewed as a sort of fetishism. "God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." (John 4:23) Jesus spoke these words to a Samaritan woman who wished to discuss sectarian divisions about the right shrine to worship at; many Protestants read Jesus' response as dismissing the importance of such divisions. Instead, they interpret this passage to mean that true worship is a matter of the spirit, the mind and the heart — in other words, it is highly abstract. Sacred places, shrines, and ritual tools and forms are, at the very least, not of the essence of the faith. Worse, if a special sanctity is thought to abide in some object, it represents a spiritual danger."

ok now that ive laid a bit of framework by citing the views of idolotry in chrisitan theology, I can finally make my point. By placing the bible at the level that christians have since it's cannonization they are essential worshiping or idolizing it. The modern christian would say to this that it is the word of god, and by such has the devine power to transcend the bridge of divinity and our wickedness and it should be seen as a roadmap to our salvation and should be seen as a guide and a manual if you will.

the flaw in this belief is the flaw of man. by beliving in god and placing him at a level of perfection and divinity we create in ourself as
"man" flaw. By saying that we are not good enough to understand the way the lord works or even what the lord is saying. We put ourselfs on a level below divinity known as mortal imperfection. According to christianity and the bible god cannot be around sin, so from that we are unable to enter his presence for we are flawed and unclean. And it is through this flawed human existance that the word of god, the foundation on which millions of chrisitans build their lives and their faith, has been communicated. Not only this but many accounts of the message contradict or differ. Looking at the Gospels in the New Testament when reading the accounts of the baptism of christ we see that recording the word of god is little more than a game of Chineese telephone. Not to mention that the original old testament was written in hebrew and the new testament was written in Greek. Translations into other language were done to perserve overall meaning and not the orignal syntax. A greek word can be translated into many english words depending on the syntax, syntax was of little concern during such orignal translations, not to mention that the meaning the translation derived were up to the interpertation of the translator. Once again we introduce human flaw into the liniage of the devine word we place our beliefs in. It is this flaw that makes the bible an even more clear work of man. By now defining the bible as a work of man placing one's faith in it or spending ones time invested in the work of man further idolatry. People waste their time seperated from god by studying the work of man. They place the bible, man's creation, at a level near or equal to god.

Section 2. Origins of Christianity.

Now this should be enough but one can take it further to say that the New Testament as a whole is nothing more than the creation of Greco-Roman culture. During the Hellenistic period, romans were looking for a diety. During this time period many cults were formed along with christianity. The writtings of the New Testament were a mix of the judaic heritage of the writters and current greek philosophies. The beliefs and sturctures of the early chrisitanity were similar in many ways to the cults of the time. The fact the christianity is just a greco-roman cult is suggested by many sources and i would tend to agree.

*Discalimer: the following paragraph is soley my personal thoughts with no other backing, its just one take on the situation

It makes sense that in a time where the masses of greece and rome were looking for a savior and were being pulled in by numerous cults, pagans and froms of mythology that the Jews must do something to keep the world centered on their god YWVH. An acceptable solution for some was for a small sect of Jews who believed they must spread the world and save the sinners and the world falling to the decay of cults and the like was to create a religion centered around the god YWVH. Knowing that the new converts would not be accepted by the bulk of the Jewish church they invented the promised Messiah "Jesus".  He would die for the sins of the Heathens and gain them favor among the masses as they could then be viewed as clean.

Another note when the old testament was translated into greek it was translated into the common dialect selected by alexander for the purposes of hellenism. Before alexander their were many dialects of greek, but alexander wanted to have a comman language for a common empire. This was known as 'koine' greek or common greek. An interesting thing to note about this translation was the translation used for the hebrew word YWVH. YWVH in hebrew refers to the god of Abraham. Koine Greek become more popular in Rome than Latin. "One reason was the Roman acceptance of all cult religions as long as the Emperor was worshipped as well." One of the titles for the Roman Emporor was kuriov. Kuriov was also coincidently the the Koine translation for YWVH. This just confirms that the translation of the bible was an attempt to fit it into current culture. This point fits both under section one and two.
